Founded in 1989, Park Playhouse has been producing free, outdoor summer theatre in Albany’s Washington Park for more than two decades. Bring a blanket and a cooler, or call ahead for a seat in the reserved section.
- The Pajama Game – August 1-22 – no Monday performances
Based on the novel 7 ½ Cents, The Pajama Game tells the charming and funny story of the employees of the Sleep Tite Pajama Factory fighting for a raise, all the while looking for love. With such hit songs as “Steam Heat,” “Hernando’s Hideaway” and “Hey There,” this classic show features one of Broadway’s best scores of all time.
Park Playhouse is located at the Lakehouse in Albany’s Washington Park. To get to the theatre, enter the park at the intersection of New Scotland Avenue and Madison Avenue (this intersection is also the best address for use as a destination on a GPS or mapping app). Parking is available along the roads in the Park. Handicapped parking is available alongside the theatre directly ahead of that park entrance. Patrons are asked to respect Park Playhouse’s resident neighbors by not parking illegally or blocking driveways, and by not leaving- behind any garbage in the beautiful Washington Park area.
