My Walkable Albany – 6/10/15

I thought I had a dental appointment at 99 Pine Street, but I was there on the wrong day, so I had time to explore a bit and grab lunch!

Walked to the corner of North Pearl and Steuben to see progress being made on 58 North Pearl Street‘s conversion from vacant building to market rate apartments and retail space. Saw a couple with a camera and a map and offered assistance. They were German tourists, and were taking a walking tour from a brochure. Confirmed that they were on Steuben Place and wished them a good day.

Hit Pearl Street Diner for a takeout Gyro Salad – Greek salad, slices of gyro meat and fries with dressing and tzatziki on the side – for $8.99. Crossed the street to the recently-remodeled Rite Aid for a peach Snapple then up State Street to catch the bus back to the office.

*Bonus – almost walked into Mayor Sheehan as she was heading down North Pearl Street!
