This year’s Summer At The Plaza series of free community events at the Empire State Plaza in Albany begins Wednesday, June 3.
New this year is the Plaza at 50 Festival, a day-long event that will feature a farmer’s market, food, music and fireworks.
The stage is being moved to the north end of the Plaza closest to the Capitol because construction on the State Museum staircase. Visitors should bring their own chairs.
Here’s the lineup according to the state Office of General Services:
Capital Concert Series presented by Saranac
- June 3: 5 to 9 p.m. Pop-Rock Night featuring Orleans.
- June 10: 5 to 9 p.m. EQX Night featuring The Vaccines.
- June 17: 5 to 9 p.m. Country Music Night featuring Craig Wayne Boyd.
- June 24: 5 to 9 p.m. Reggae Night featuring Maxi Priest July 8: 5 to 9 p.m. Jazz Night featuring Kim Waters
- July 4: 3 to 10 p.m. Price Chopper presents New York State’s 4th of July Celebration starring Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes.
- July 11: Noon to 5 p.m. GE’s Kids Day Sing Along Adventure with Barney.
- Aug. 1: Noon to 7 p.m. The Black Arts and Cultural Festival presented by McDonald’s starring Will Downing Aug. 12: 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. New York State Food Festival presented by Allstate starring Cracker.
- Sept. 12: 5 to 10 p.m. Hispanic Heritage Celebration starring Alex Matos.
- Sept. 16: Noon to 8 p.m. Plaza at 50 Festival starring Shadows of the 60’s – A Tribute to Motown super groups. The commemoration includes an exhibit at the State Museum and a speaker series at The Egg.
