A musical history told through the authentic songs & stories of the New York Anti-Rent Rebellion of the 1840s.
Tenant farmers in the Helderberg Mountains rebelled against the semi-feudalistic land contracts they were granted by their Dutch landlord in the Rensselaerwyck Manor (modern day Albany, Rensselaer, and Columbia counties) after the Revolutionary War.
Performed by Old Songs, Inc., the research for this program was conducted by Andy Spence and George Ward in part at the New York State Library. This program is co-sponsored by the Friends of the New York State Library and the New York State Office of Cultural Education. Cost is $10 per person at the door (cash or check). Registration is required.
